When it's likely to happen
Flipkart hasn't announced Big Billion Days 2026 dates yet. The historical pattern is consistent though: a late-September to early-October window that opens the festive quarter, usually with 24-hour early access for Flipkart Plus members and a staggered category calendar (mobiles day one, TVs and appliances close behind). Returns during the sale: same policy, slower physics
Flipkart's published windows don't shrink for the sale — 7 days on most electronics, 10 on fashion still applies. What changes is throughput. Reverse-pickup fleets carry festival forward-delivery load first, so a pickup that normally lands next-day can take several. Two practical consequences:
- Raise returns on day one, not day six. The window is measured to when you initiate, but a late request plus a slow pickup risks disputes about item condition and missed windows.
- Open big-ticket boxes on camera. Sale volume means more warehouse mistakes and more brushed-metal-that-isn't. Thirty seconds of unboxing video is the cheapest insurance that exists.
Refunds: prepaid wins, COD queues
The refund SLA (typically ~5 business days after pickup QC) holds on paper, but every stage runs at the slow end during sale weeks. Prepaid UPI/wallet refunds still clear fastest. COD refunds add a collect-bank-details step and an IMPS/NEFT leg — during festival volume that's the difference between "this week" and "which week?". The pre-purchase checks that matter
- Price history beats discount badges. List prices are sometimes raised into the sale; a "70% off" anchored to an inflated MRP isn't a deal. Check what the product actually sold for last month.
