Amazon hasn't announced Great Indian Festival 2026 dates. Historically the sale opens in late September with Prime early access and runs deep into October, refreshing deals through the festive weeks — typically head-to-head with Flipkart's Big Billion Days (our BBD 2026 guide covers that side). Returns under sale load

Amazon's published windows hold during the festival — 10 days on most electronics, 30 on fashion — but the machinery around them slows. Reverse pickups queue behind forward deliveries, and quality checks take longer. The playbook:

• Initiate early. A return raised on day two beats one raised on day nine every time — pickup slots fill fast in sale weeks.
• Record big-ticket unboxings. Festival volume raises wrong-item and damage rates everywhere; a short video closes disputes in your favour.
• Check returnability per listing. Sale listings rotate sellers, and the same product can be refund-eligible from one and replacement-only from another.

Refund reality: prepaid vs COD

Once a return passes checks, Amazon's refund window (~5 business days) applies — UPI and wallet credits land first, cards add bank settlement. COD is the slow lane: refunds need your bank details and an IMPS/NEFT leg, which stretches when festival volume hits. Before you pay: three checks

The category rhythm, historically

Past editions have followed a recognisable cadence: mobiles and laptops headline the opening days with the deepest card-offer stacking, televisions and large appliances peak in the first week while installation slots are still bookable, and fashion, home and everyday categories refresh in waves through October. Two practical consequences: if your purchase needs installation (TV, AC, washing machine), buying early in the sale gets you a technician this month rather than next; and if you are exchanging an old device, lock the exchange quote before sale-week price swings change the maths.
