Frequently asked questions
- Does BigBasket accept returns?
- No — BigBasket does not take returns. It issues refunds for damaged, expired or wrong items reported within 24 hours of delivery, either at the door or through the app.
- How do I report a damaged or missing BigBasket item?
- Open the order in the app, select the affected item and raise an issue within 24 hours of delivery. Adding photos speeds up approval; approved claims are refunded without a re-pickup in most cases.
- How long does a BigBasket refund take?
- Around 5 business days to the original payment method. BigBasket wallet credits are faster; card refunds can add a bank-settlement day or two on top.
- What if I miss the 24-hour reporting window?
- Claims raised after 24 hours are generally not eligible under the published policy. Contact support anyway for expiry or food-safety issues, but approval is discretionary.
Why refunds get delayed
- Item failed quality check at the merchant's warehouse.
- Original payment instrument was deactivated or expired.
- Bank holiday / weekend interrupts the settlement cycle.
- Refund routed to wallet by default — needs manual transfer to bank.
